They say “opportunity dances with those who are already on the dance floor” or, as the lottery people love to tell us, “you have to be in it to win it”. Either way, you get the idea, you need to be “in the game” in order to win and achieve success.
There is no use sitting on the sidelines wishing, hoping and praying your dream will come true. Oh, I suppose this works every once in a while. But for most of us, you need to be in the game, getting slammed, pushed, rejected and sidelined pretty much on a daily basis. Remember, success can’t reach you if you aren’t in the game to win.
Now, I am no sports enthusiast, but I know enough about professional players to know that in order to gain the success they have achieved, they must have practiced till they bled and had their share of losses along the way.
As Michael Jordan has been quoted as saying
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games, 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed!”
You stay in the game, even if you feel like you are losing every time. Because eventually you will start to win. Eventually, little by little. Maybe not big wins at first, but wins. Little wins will start adding up…and every little win needs to be recognized and celebrated. Because the road to success can be a long and lonely road and you will need the memory of those little wins on the days when there are no wins or even worse, a big loss or rejection.
Stay in the game. Work at it daily. Lose even better. Win even bigger. I can’t tell you when success will find you, but I can tell when it won’t. When you decided the game was too hard and quit! Then I can pretty much guarantee you a success rate of failure at 100%. And nobody wants that. Stay in the game and play to win!
Till next time,
