Power. It’s yours for the taking! (7/31/17)

Power. It’s yours for the taking.

RoseAnn Barr got it right!

Way too many people, both women and men, give up their power so freely, and then wonder why they feel helpless and feel miserable.

And they are willing victims to boot!

If someone is making you feel bad or badly, then either that person needs to change their behavior towards you, or, they need to be removed from your life.

I know that sounds easier said then done sometimes, only in reality, that’s what needs to happen.

How often do we hear a friend tell us they don’t want to be with their wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend anymore, only they can’t or won’t leave them because: fill in the blank!

And yes, I’ve been guilty of this myself, only now I’ve learned the hard way that I only keep company with people that inspire me and make me happy 😉

There are many other ways we give up our power.

We stay in a job we hate, and convince ourselves why we need to stay.  And then get angry at both ourselves and who’s ever around us, because we hate our jobs (trust me, I’ve been guilty of this too).

Anytime you aren’t in control of a situation, you are giving up your power.

Now, sometimes we give up our power willingly for a good reason.  We want to make someone else happy, so we go along with their choice of restaurant for dinner.

You want to go to Alaska on a cruise for vacation and your partner wants to spend two weeks traveling Europe, and you give in and concede.  You give up your power, only in a good way.

Say you want to accomplish something big in your life (a topic I write about often), only you feel you don’t have “what it takes”.

You feel, how can I possibly do x, y, z, with; “what I have”, “what I am”, “without enough money”, “without the resources”, “without the connections”.

And the list goes on and on.  And so, you never actually even get started because you’ve already convinced yourself you can’t do it!

BEFORE YOU EVEN STARTED!  That’s how so many people give up their power!

And then they go on to live their lives with regret, and again, feeling powerless.

Do you really think all these famous people who’s names we’ve all heard, like:

Sylvester Stallone

Bill Gates

J.K. Rowling

Justin Beiber

Tom Cruise

Jim Carey

Clint Eastwood

Shania Twain

Celine Dion

had everything they needed to start?

Of course not!

But I guarantee you one thing they all had!

The confidence to believe in themselves and the POWER to stay in the game and NOT GIVE UP!

Do you know how many people told me I was crazy when I came up with my idea for my business.  People actually said to me, “who is going to pay you to go shopping?”.  And guess what, I proved them wrong!  And now, five years in to my business (next month) I have expanded into Influencer, Social Media Consultant, and I just launched my line of t-shirts on Amazon.  And I would never be where I am if I listened to those naysayers!

That is true power.  The willingness to stay focused when the odds are against you!

So now you have to ask yourself, what is you want, and what are you willing to do to get it?

You have the POWER to do anything you want!

Till next time,
