Follow your passion, follow your heart <3 (6/10/15)

I know a lot of people out there who have a dream, an idea, a passion they want to pursue.  The reason I know this is because over the past couple of  years since I started my own business, so many people have opened up to me about their own dreams and passions.  They are passionate about starting something, only they convince themselves before they even start that it won’t work.  They can’t image HOW they could make it happen.  They think HOW can they get from Point A to Point B? HOW can they make it work when they work full-time, have a family, don’t have enough money, or they’re going to school?

And the people who have just come out of failed relationships?  Thinking, how can they meet someone new?  No one is going to love them ever again?  They can’t even see beyond the horizon that it could happen again for them.

My advice for all of the above, just keep going.  Everyday, keep moving!  That’s the mind-set of successful people.

Want to know what it took for me to get where I right now?  To having the success I have right now and everything else that has come my way?  A LOT OF WORK.  Plenty of hours at the library reading business books, articles, researching everything I could get my hands on that I thought would help me.  I have attended countless networking events, I’ve reached out to people I didn’t know asking for advice.  I took classes, attended seminars and met with anyone who I thought might be able to help me get where I wanted to go (sometimes not even knowing where I was going, I just knew I wanted to get there).  I just never stopped.

On a way to make a dream come true, a funny thing happens.  If it really means that much to you, that’s all you think about, your whole life becomes your dream and you surrender the “how” and you focus on the “doing”.

And how has it worked for me over the last couple of years?  A few failures.  Many disappointments.   Business cards that didn’t work (like the fact that I forgot my e-mail address and phone number), websites that didn’t feel right, ideas that I thought people would love and they didn’t.  More disappointments and more tears (yes, there’s a lot of tears on your way to your dream and anyone who tells you different is lying).

So where am I today?  I’m happy to say in a good place.  I know I still have a long way to go, but I’ve also come a hell of a long way from where I started.  I’ve also added things to my dream list that weren’t originally on there and I’ve taken some things off the list as well.  Having your own business is organic, always growing and always changing.  It is a HUGE learning experience in more ways than I could count.  I’m a lot smarter these days than from when I first started.

So here is my advice for anyone out there who can’t imagine “how” it will all work out? “How” they will get to where they want to be? “How” they will meet that new person?  “How” will they find their new job? “How” will there business become successful? How to make anything happen?

Too many people either give up or don’t even start at all because it gets tough or, they think it will never come true.

Here’s a quote from Dale Carnegie that sums it up:

“Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.”

When you have the right mind-set and the intention behind it, just watch the right people and opportunities come into your life.  Keep your mind OPEN to everything.  You never know where the miracles will come from and if you aren’t paying attention, you just might miss one!

All the best,
