Crabs in a Bucket TAKE II! (7/15/19)

Why Crabs in a Bucket II?

Because Crabs in a Bucket I was such a big hit!

What is the ‘crabs in a barrel” mentality you might ask?

It goes like this:

Crab mentality, sometimes referred to as, crabs in a bucket, is a way of thinking best described by the phrase, “if I can’t have it, neither can you.”

What happens when you put a crab in a bucket?

It tries to escape. Obviously.

Now, put two crabs in the bucket.

Now what happens?

When one crab tries to escape, the other crab will pull it back down into the bucket.

Hence, crabs in the barrel mentality.

LIFE works like that too.

People get jealous all the time.

Maybe someone gets a promotion and they are jealous THEY didn’t get one,

Or, someone buys a new house, much nicer than theirs, and THEY get jealous because their house isn’t as nice.

Or, someone gets a new car, and someone gets totally jealous.

There may be those around you that don’t want you to succeed. They are very comfortable where you are in your life, IN their life.

Only, one day you decide you want more, do more, be more. So maybe you want to start your own business?

Perhaps you go back to college and work on that degree you keep saying you wanted to do?

This can make others around you very uncomfortable, so they try and pull you back. Say things like, “it won’t work”, “you can’t do it”, “you will never succeed”, “how are you going to do that”, and so on.

That’s on them, not you!

My advice, surround yourself with people who make you feel like sunshine🌈🌈🌈.

People who believe in you and your dreams.🌟🌟🌟

Those people in bucket, leave them behind. And if they are meant to be in your life, they will find a way.

And how are you going to find those people? (because people always ask me that question.)

My answer, keep working on your dream, follow your passion, and trust me, those people will find you, they always do.

Blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours shine any brighter.

My feeling is this. If I’m happy for you, if I put out that good vibration out into the Universe, that’s going to come back on me.

The Universe loves positive vibes. And it loves the people who put out the good vibes.πŸ™

Be one of those peopleπŸ•ŠπŸ•ŠπŸ•Š

This story of crabs in a bucket was originally told to me years ago (because I had never heard of it), by a guy I met at a networking and followed up by having a cup of coffee at the Dix Hills diner. I haven’t seen that guy in years, but I will always remember the story he told me. And forever grateful he did.

This is actually my third version of that original blog from years ago. It is such a great message to send out to people.

Going after your dream, or getting out of the bucket, doesn’t mean you can’t ask for help! You absolutely should ask for help. As a matter of fact, those people that you are surrounding yourself with…those people supporting you and your dreams?

Those are your people to go to.

Personally, I have a handful of people to go to when I need help. And I am not afraid to ask them, and in turn, they ask me for my help when they need it.

That’s the wonderful thing about surrounding yourself with supportive people, people who aren’t trying to pull you back into the barrel.

Instead they are pushing you up!

Lastly, a little golden nugget to share with you today:

And the day will come when all of the gold in the world will not appeal to you as much, Patricia, as having just one more day of being who and where you already are, with what you already have.
If it hasn’t already.
Thank you,   The Universe

That’s a wrap!

And remember, don’t be a crab!

Talk soon,

Patricia <3 always
