How to have amazing confidence.
Note: it doesn’t happen overnight and it isn’t something that once you get, you stop.
It is something you work at everyday for the rest of your life. Once you “get it” (and you’ll know when you get it) or have it (some people are born with it, but not many), you have to keep working at it everyday on all different levels.
Some days you might need more inspiration/motivation, some days you might need more exercise/movement, and some days you might need a nap.
I know one thing, once you have it, #lifechanging.
Rule #1, Believe in Yourself! You have to have unwavering belief in yourself.
You have to know what you want so badly that nothing can stop you from getting it.
You have to believe in yourself so much, that when anyone tells you otherwise, you can shrug it off.
Also, make sure you are surrounding yourself with people who DO believe in you.
Remember, you are the sum of the five people you most surround yourself with.
So if you are spending time with people with no dreams, not pursuing greatness…then it is time to find new people.
Pursue Greatness Every Day!
What is it that motivates you?
What are your dreams and desires?
Where are you heading?
And I’ve said this before, do not concern yourself with the “hows”…that is not for you to think about.
No one knows “how” it will happen. Pursuing greatness is another way of saying, wake up with a deep desire to succeed at any cost!
Having a lot of enthusiasm helps a great deal in the quest for great self-confidence.
You need to be excited about everything, everyday!
And if you don’t have something to be excited about, then you need to find it quickly.
Nothing works better at giving you confidence than looking AND feeling good about yourself.
So go in your closet and start putting together some great outfits for yourself, you’ll see how much better you feel when you look in the mirror and like what you see!
I know I use this one all the time, and I make no apologies about it! The sheer act of smiling gives you confidence. It boosts your adrenaline, which sends out endorphins, which in turn, makes you feel better. Like what happens when you exercise, only easier!
Work on yourself and you will see how the tides turn, for the better, on you.
No need to copy anyone else.
You are remarkable.
Most people don’t take the time to get to know themselves.
Most people don’t spend time alone (which in my opinion is one of the greatest things you can do to be successful in life), so spend some time alone everyday working on you.
Read a book, take a walk, watch a motivational video, take up yoga, spend an hour at the library, follow three people on social media that inspire you…you get the idea.
Find someone or something that sings to you and be inspired.
When I started my business five years ago, I found this one girl who had a blog and I was addicted/inspired by it, and I read every blog she wrote, and for some crazy reason, that helped me!
Find your “thing” and go with wild abandon after it.
Take an adventure.
Do something out of the norm.
Take yourself to lunch!
Get in your car one morning and take a drive to somewhere you’ve never been.
It doesn’t have to be far away, maybe there’s something nearby you’ve always wanted to see.
If you keep doing the same thing day in and day out, you start to live life on autopilot, and that’s not how you want to live, so get out there!
Take up public speaking.
I know many of you said you would rather die than take up public speaking.
Which, when you think about, is pretty funny.
People would rather die than stand in front of a group of people and give a speech (and speaking in front of the people you work with at a meeting doesn’t count).
Yes, it can be daunting.
It can also give you a huge rush, helps with your communication and body skills, makes people take note of you (especially if you get really good at it) and most notably, helps your self-confidence.
How can you do that you might ask?
My best advice, join your local Toast Masters (they are all over the world).
There is also a wonderful Dale Carnegie class (which I took as well), that was pivotal for me in my public speaking confidence.
It know it can be terrifying, do it anyway!
Me now, versus me five years ago. That’s what self-confidence can do for you!
These are some of my suggestions to gain self-confidence.
I’m not saying it is easy, I am saying, it is worth it.
Self-confidence is the “thing” that helps propel you to where you want to be.
It helps you do those things that are scary. It makes you attractive to others.
And once you have it, you’ll want more!
